We define mindfulness as “the practice of attending to the present moment and all that is in it with awareness and compassion.” What better object of mindfulness is there than food, and our thoughts and emotions which drive the eating habits that we engage in every day?
We have to eat!----Every day!----So let’s use eating as an opportunity to choose balance rather than mindless response to impulse.
This series provides skills in replacing momentary desires with new habits and patterns of behavior that aligned with our heart felt wishes.
This is an experiential group, and participants need to be prepared to spend 20 minutes a day practicing at home the meditation and mindfulness exercises that are introduced in class. Classes will also include mindful movement and body centered exercises.
This is not an eating disorders group. It is a class for those motivated to change their relationship with food. It will benefit those who want to lose weight as well as others who may be struggling with unhealthy or imbalanced eating patterns... or for those who simply wish to improve their mindfulness skills.
Participants who practice regularly and fully commit to the group activities can expect to:
- Experience an increase in personal energy and vibrancy
- Make solid strides in reaching eating and lifestyle goals
- Decrease negative emotions associated with eating
- Create healthy new habits
This class will be taught by Susan Grant and Vicki Rowe-Currence.
