We define mindfulness as “the practice of attending to the present moment and all that is in it with awareness and compassion.” What better object of mindfulness is there than food, and our thoughts and emotions which drive the eating habits that we engage in every day?

We have to eat!----Every day!----So let’s use eating as an opportunity to choose balance rather than mindless response to impulse.

This series provides skills in replacing momentary desires with new habits and patterns of behavior that aligned with our heart felt wishes.

This is an experiential group, and participants need to be prepared to spend 20  minutes a day practicing at home the meditation and mindfulness exercises that are introduced in class. Classes will also include mindful movement and body centered exercises.

This is not an eating disorders group. It is a class for those motivated to change their relationship with food. It will benefit those who want to lose weight as well as others who may be struggling with unhealthy or imbalanced eating patterns... or for those who simply wish to improve their mindfulness skills.

Testimonial:
“Susan Grant's Mindfulness Training has been a truly unique and life- affirming experience. It is a cross between meditation, discussion, reading, guided imagery and focused group sharing with the goal of positive understanding and support. The result is a long-lasting awareness, acceptance and general shift in how I perceive my life. Rather than getting trapped in feeling overwhelmed, confused, angry, anxious or depressed, I now tend to catch myself much more quickly, evaluate why I am out of balance, and objectively choose how I want to respond. This allows me to consciously take responsibility for my actions without feeling guilty or out of control. At the same time, the experience is not simply a mental exercise; there is an emotional and spiritual calming that I feel.”
